Welcome the Change

Summer is already just a nice memory and it looks like weather is trying to tell us that all play is over and now we need to work until we manage to get another short escape.

Right about this time of the year our minds start to play tricks on us and almost protesting against settling back into our routine, going all in at work, or getting up early in the mornings. It’s already cold outside and all we want to do is snuggle back in into our warm bed. Yes, it is much more fun to sleep until we can’t sleep anymore and then choose to do all the fun things we can think of.

That mind of ours is a funny thing indeed. What is even more funny (read scary) is that we only use about 10% of our mental abilities! ONLY 10?! Unfortunately that is sad but true. The point is that we are much stronger than we think, much more resourceful then we think, much more creative than we think. We don’t give ourselves enough credit. We are powerful beings that can affect our reality.

So how do we go about changing things we want to change?

Want it

Well, first we need to really want it! Many of us get into that complaining pattern of noticing only negative things about pretty much everything in our lives. However, we rarely make the real effort of changing anything. We either “don’t have time” or “We are not really that dissatisfied”, or we use complaining as something to talk about and relate to other complainers. It’s easier to be in a tribe than alone, right?

We need to choose our tribe wisely because people we are spending the most time with define us. And we need to decide finally if we enjoy our “challenges” (I don’t like to call them problems) or we actually want to do something about them.

Make a plan

If you are reading this far it means that you are one brave soul that’s determined to improve her life! Congratulate yourself. And I mean it! We usually fail to give ourselves enough credit for good things we do because we could always do better. Well airplanes can go faster than they do but we all think that’s pretty awesome to get from Stockholm to Las Vegas in 10 hours so we are happy!

(Just throwing in a little joke in to put a smile on your face…or I’m being sneaky and putting bug into your mind to go and visit my city on your next vacation-we’ll never know;)

Plans are very important for accomplishing things. Once you decide that you want improvement in some area of your life you need to decide on steps needed to accomplish it. Sometimes you need help of a mentor or a coach who’s going to give you pointers and a different perspective. All the tools we need are always there within our reach; we only need to open up and grab them.

And never give up!

Change doesn’t happen over night. Nothing that is worth anything (great job, fulfilling relationship, health) is built over night. It takes planning, investing, and above all perseverance. When the times get tough it is important to stay on track. We all have dark days when nothing seem to be working and we just want to throw in a towel and move to some tropical island and eat coconuts.

Well, islands with a lot of free coconuts are far away from Sweden and I’m sure that us, being real go getters, wouldn’t last long doing nothing. So never give up on your dreams! Those dark days are exactly what is making you stronger and separates you from the crowd.

And we are choosing to only be winners!
